BIOGRAPHY
Meet Erin
Erin Marks is a young American lyric-mezzo based in Vienna, Austria, originally from the greater New York area of the U.S. A cross-over performer, Erin trained in Opera, Operetta, Musical Theater and Jazz Standards. She has been seen on stages around Austria, the United States and as far as China.
Since joining the ensemble of Bühne Baden in October 2021, Erin has worked as a soloist several productions including Sister Bertha in The Sound of Music, Marian Thayer in Titanic, Vera/Maude in Funny Girl, Kassandra in Odysseus, Praskowia in Die Lustige Witwe and Sidonie in Der Graf von Luxemburg. She has been a featured ensemble member in the new non-replica production of the global phenomenon Wicked, as well as the Austrian premiere of South Pacific, Sunset Boulevard, Im weißen Rössl (ORF Live Broadcast), and the Austrian debut of the musical, Nine (Neun). Erin also had the pleasure of jumping in for colleague Verena Scheitz, and sang the role of Orlofsky in January 2023 in Die Fledermaus.
Erin's most recent concerts include a series of concerts with Finnish pianist, Ville Pääkkönen, titled Death, Sin and Secrets, a program of American, German and Austrian music illustrating the dark corners of the human soul. Erin has also teamed up with tenor Glenn Desmedt to start a Stephen Sondheim concert program, Sundays with Stephen in Vienna and its surrounding area.
Prior to her engagement in Baden, Erin's soloist work includes a liederabend of Florence Price at Burg Bernstein with soprano Stephanie DePrez, as well as making her debut as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro in Bruck an der Leitha. She has performed at balls in Vienna, among them the ÖWF (Austrian Space Forum) Ball at Palais Niederösterreich.
Several projects of Erin's ensemble work include singing with Oper Klosterneuburg and featured on ORF Austrian National Television, singing in Bachchor Salzburg under the baton of Kirill Petrenko and Markus Poschner, and recording new musicals in Vienna with the Wiener Kammerchor and Synchron Stage Vienna.
She graduated with honors from the Saint Mary's College Music Program, the German Language and Literature minor studies at the University of Notre Dame, and is a grantee of the USTA Fulbright program. Erin has also received her Master of Arts from the University of Vienna's Theater, Film and Media studies program with honors. In April 2025, Erin was an artist in residence at her alma mater, Saint Mary's College. When Erin is not singing, she is half-marathon training and walking her corgi, Indiana Jones.
